Adverse Weather Conditions

Always remember that stopping distance is doubled when riding in the rain.

On a wet surface, there is less friction between the tires and the road. Hence, you must ride slowly on slippery road conditions. Do not brake abruptly; but instead brake intermittently.

When the motorcycle starts to skid, steer toward the direction of the skid. Straighten the motorcycle once traction is regained. Avoid riding through floods if and when you can.

If riding through floods is unavoidable, engage in lower gear and open the throttle steadily to increase engine speed. Apply half-clutch technique to control speed while passing through flood.

After crossing the waters, do not speed up. Apply intermittent braking at short intervals to dry the brakes. You may pick-up speed when effectiveness of the brakes is regained.
